Where I live in the world, Aquarius Season is the time of ice fog. The ancient cedars drip with water, the sea is plummy dark, sounds and colours are greyed out and muted.

No matter where you are in the world and how bright your surroundings, the energy of this season has been a bit grey and fogged in. We don’t feel ready to get going on our New Year’s goals, we feel tired and expended.

This time of quiet and inward calling is to be expected anytime we have two personal planets in retrograde (Venus and Mercury are both retrograde now.)

But this January has been a bit extra, hasn’t it?

Of course, there’s pandemic fatigue.

But our experience of the pandemic can’t be separated from the energies that mirror it in the mythic sky. Saturn has dominated the conversation for two years, dark robed and ominous, playing on our fears, stress-testing all of our structures, and insisting that we step up and get our stuff together and be better, more responsible humans. It has been a lot.

Venus and Mercury in retrograde in Saturn-ruled signs this month have given us an important opportunity: to review our experiences of the last two years, integrate the inner work and changes, then release and move on.

I know I’ve been talking a lot lately about turning points and hope, but this week really is the pivot point. I say this for three reasons:

Mars has moved into his exaltation in Capricorn, which gives us two important gifts. First, our ability to take action and see tangible, solid results from that action is amplified and supported. Next, Mars is no longer antagonizing Jupiter by square. Jupiter, newly come home to expansive and mystical Pisces, is now finally free to bring us some Jupiterian goodies like creative flow states, runs of good luck, renewal of hope, feelings of buoyancy.

At the end of the week, Venus stations direct in Capricorn. Those Venusian things in your life that have slowed down and needed a re-boot this month, your money, your relationship stuff, your sense of balance and beauty, those things will begin to move forward again at the end of the week. Make sure you finish up your audits by then, whether they were of your budget or your investments of emotional labour.

Finally, the Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio has us making decisions about what to release form the shadow work of the last two years.

The Lunar Key™ for the Last Quarter Moon is…

What needs to be released?

The Astrology: On Tuesday morning, the Moon in early Scorpio moved into a closing square with the Sun in Aquarius, and a beautiful trine with Jupiter in Pisces. Moon was also applying by conjunction to the the healing goddess Hygeia in Scorpio.

The Energy: What needs to be released in order for you to step fully into healing and expansion?

The Lunar Gestational Cycle

Each lunation is part of a longer two and a half year lunar cycle. This Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio represents the release of a cycle that began in April of 2019. The cycle came to fruition in May of 2021, and is ready now for release.

Last Quarter Moon Blessings to you,

Love, Bronwyn
